R&R Seafood at BWI Marshall Airport Recognized in Annual Industry Concessions Competition

Restaurant’s Third-Place Award Adds to Accolades for BWI Marshall’s Food & Retail Program

BALTIMORE — R&R Seafood Bar, a restaurant and raw bar at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, was recently honored in the 2019 Airports Council International-North America Airport Concessions Awards. R&R Seafood won third place in the Best Food and Beverage/Full Concept category.

“BWI Marshall Airport is committed to offering outstanding customer service and a first-rate food and shopping program for our customers,” said BWI Marshall Executive Director Ricky Smith. “We acknowledge and thank R&R Seafood for the excellent service and fresh dining. A local brand, R&R Seafood is helping to ensure a positive passenger experience.”

There were close to 200 nominations from airports of all sizes in the annual competition. The awards recognize creativity, innovation and outstanding airport concessions. BWI Marshall Airport’s food and retail program has won several industry recognitions in recent years.

“We are thrilled R&R Seafood Bar is being recognized with the industry’s highest honor for excellence in airport concessions,” said Brett Kelly, senior vice president of operations of Fraport USA. “Earning an ACI-NA award is an outstanding achievement for a family-run business, and we applaud the Cernaks on an impressive win. Their award-winning concepts epitomize local flavor and the innovative spirit of the concessions program at BWI Marshall.”

R&R Seafood is located between concourses D and E at BWI Marshall, just beyond the D/E security checkpoint. The restaurant offers fresh seafood, salads, sandwiches, sides, and a full bar. R&R Seafood is operated by the same family that runs the award-winning Obrycki’s seafood restaurant on concourse B.

“We are proud to receive this award and are thankful to everyone who was involved in developing R&R Seafood Bar,” said Cheri Cernak, one of the restaurant co-owners. “R&R is named in honor of our amazing parents, Rose and Richard, which makes this acknowledgment even more special.”

A recent economic impact report revealed that BWI Marshall Airport has a total economic impact of $9.3 billion. BWI Marshall and its visitors generate and support more than 106,000 jobs throughout the region. The airport’s passenger traffic grew to 27.1 million in 2018, the fourth-straight record year. BWI Marshall remains the busiest airport in the region.
