PITTSBURGH, Nov. 17, 2015 – Chef Michael Symon is returning to Pittsburgh on Friday, Nov. 20 to “break bread” with a dozen military service members at his Bar Symon restaurant at Pittsburgh International Airport. Symon’s breakfast with the troops will be followed by a meet and greet with passengers in the Center Core, and a book signing of his new cookbook, “5 in 5 for Every Season: 165 Quick Dinners, Sides, Holiday Dishes, and More” at Bar Symon. The popular eatery, a collaboration with Paradies Lagardère and United Concessions Group (UCG), opened at the airport in 2012.

“Not only are we excited to have Chef Symon back in Pittsburgh, it will be a special privilege to welcome these brave men and women who serve our country,” said Jay Kruisselbrink, senior vice president of AIRMALL USA, developer and manager of the airport’s award-winning shopping center. “We’re honored that Bar Symon is hosting such a remarkable group for breakfast,” added Ben Rababy, vice president, UCG.

Chef Symon’s visit kicks off Paradies Lagardère’s annual Treat Our Troops program, which offers military personnel a free menu item and beverage at its restaurants nationwide during Thanksgiving week. In Pittsburgh, active and retired military service personnel can show their military I.D. when ordering or checking out at Bar Symon for a complimentary meal from Nov. 23 – 27.

“Treat Our Troops is our way of serving our military members in appreciation for serving us all year long,” said Gregg Paradies, President and CEO, Paradies Lagardère. “We’re grateful that Chef Symon will be joining us to kick off the program.”

In addition to signing copies of his latest cookbook, the host of ABC’s “The Chew” and Food Network star will also offer fans autographed recipe cards for his juicy turkey cooked in cheesecloth. The book signing begins at 11:30 a.m. at Bar Symon near Concourse B in the airside terminal.
